ELECTRIC CHARGE AND FIELD QUESTIONS

ELECTRIC CHARGE:
Q 1 What is an electric charge ? Is it a scalar or vector quantity ? Give  S I unit and dimensional formula of electric charge.
Q 2 Explain various applications of an electroscope with the help of examples.
Q 3 Explain with the help of simple examples the theory of electric charging from electronics point of view.
Q 4 What would be the effect on mass of an atom if it
 i) lose electrons ii) gain electrons?
Q 5 What is charging by induction? Show that how you will develop negative charge on a metal bob with out touching it.
Q 6 Vehicles carrying inflammable materials usually have metallic chains touching the ground during the motion of the vehicle. Why?
Q 7 What will happen to the normal flow of tap water when a charged rod is brought near it ?
Q 8 What does q1 + q2 = 0 signify?
Q 9 Similar charges repel each other. Can they attract each other also ?

Q 10 Repulsion is the surer test for electrification. How?

Q 11 Can a charged body attract an uncharged body ?

Q 12 A glass rod is rubbed with silk will its mass increases or decreases.

Q 13 What is the minimum value of charge a charged body can have?

Q 14 What is the effect of speed on the mass of a charged particle ?

Q 15 When a glass rod rubbed with silk cloth acquires a charge + 1.6 x 10-19 coulomb. What is the charge on the silk cloth?

Q 16 Find the least Coulomb's force between the charges placed 1m apart.
(Ans: F(min)=2.3 x 10-19 N )

Q 17 Calculate the force of electrostatic attraction between a proton and an electron separated by a distance of  8 x 10-14 m.
( Ans: F = -3.6 N)

Q 18 A charge q is placed at the centre of line joining two equal charges (each Q). Show that the system of three charges will be in equilibrium if q = -Q/4.

Q 19 Two point charges q1 and q2 are such that q1q2< 0. What is the nature of the force between the two charges?
Q 20 Two point charges q1 and qare such that q1q2>0. What is the nature of the force between the two charges?
